Before you use DOTS
DOTS (DemDx Ophthalmology Triage System) is a clinical decision support tool for triage in adult ophthalmic emergency departments.
It uses a machine-learning model trained on real triage data from past attendances at Moorfields Eye Hospital. It suggests a priority and conditions to consider, and shows what DOTS considered in each case.
Its suggestions come from patterns in that data, not from clinical guidelines or the literature. They can be wrong, and they do not cover every condition or presentation.
DOTS does not diagnose and does not replace clinical judgement. Always assess the patient and follow your local protocols.
Do not enter names, hospital numbers or other patient identifiers. DOTS records coded answers and times for audit and service evaluation. Free-text notes stay on your screen; the only text saved is a reason you type for not following DOTS, so it must not identify the patient.
What you confirm
- I understand that DOTS is a decision support tool, trained on real data, that does not replace clinical judgement.
- I agree that the clinical decisions I make, with or without DOTS, are my responsibility.
